The Step Change programme is fundamentally grounded in the needs and aspirations of refugees and people seeking asylum; both those still being supported by Consortium partners, and members of the community with lived experience who have moved beyond our services.
Experts by Experience (EbE) have been involved in the development of the Step Change programme, through their central role in the GM Refugee Strategy consultation event in May 2019 with Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, and through follow-up discussion groups.
To ensure the involvement of EbE is built into the heart of the Step Change programme, we have designed an EbE engagement programme that involves setting up and facilitating a group of people with lived experience who will play an integral part in shaping the work of the Step Change Consortium and drive our advocacy activities.
